Baby Hand Casting

Baby Hand Casting

Here at The Wishing Jar I am proud to offer baby hand casting as well as other 3D casting products. Baby hand casting is where a 3D replica of your baby’s hand (or foot or both) is made in stone plaster.

This is a such beautiful way to capture a moment in time forever. When my daughter was young I did not get this done as I was not aware of this amazing keepsake, and I really wish I could turn back time and have her teeny little hand as a fabulous baby hand cast to look at now! Baby hand casting – The Process Casting appointments are at my home studio in NE3, and I like to set aside 2 hours for each appointment. This allows for a relaxed and calm atmosphere, with plenty of time to chat about the various options, the process, a cup of tea and hopefully some baby cuddles for me!

To create the baby hand casting, a soft flexible mould is made around your baby’s hand and this is then used to pour the plaster into. The creation of the mould is perfectly safe and painless, using non-toxic materials. In fact it is the same material dentists use to make impressions of your teeth! The cast is then left to dry for several weeks before being completed in a finish of your choice (including antique bronze, antique sliver, pewter, pearlescent ivory, solid metallic gold or solid metallic silver). The finished baby hand cast can then be free-standing mounted on a wooden plinth, or framed and hung on the wall. I have a fantastic choice of bespoke frames and a variety of mounts to choose from, and you also have the option of adding a photograph, or a keepsake such as booties, hospital band, or even their favourite dummy or teether!

As my frames are made to order they a completely customisable, and I’m always happy to discuss requirements and come up with new ideas. I take great pride in my work and I care about each casting I make. I realise the huge personal value of the keepsakes that I am creating and I would rather call customers back and re-take the moulds than produce something sub-standard or that I am not happy with.

These baby 3d casts create such a precious memory and it gives me great pleasure to be able to create them for you.
