Baby Hand and Foot Impression FAQ
What is Magic Mallow? Is it like clay?
Magic Mallow is an modeling material which air dries and does not need baking or cooking to set. It is very lightweight and will not break if dropped. The material can be moulded into different shapes and captures baby hand/foot print detail perfectly. There are other clay impression kits on the market but some clay is very hard to press your babys' hand or foot into and would break if dropped. We feel Magic Mallow is the perfect material for parents to capture their baby's impression with no fuss or mess.
Is taking my baby's foot imprint easy?
Yes! Taking your baby's hand or footprint with our special impression kits is really easy. Simply roll out and then press your baby's hand/foot into the impression material. If you don't like it then fold it up and roll it out again. If in doubt then watch the demo video here.
Is taking my baby's hand impression a messy process?
No! There is absolutely no mess when using our baby hand or foot impression kits. Nothing is left on the baby's hand or foot after the impression and there is nothing to spill. You cant find a cleaner process!
Is Magic Mallow safe for my baby?
Yes! It is completely non-toxic and safe to use on your baby's skin. As long as you do not allow your baby to eat the material (simply because they would choke!) then there is nothing that could harm your baby.
How many baby impressions/imprints can I get out of one impression kit?
We recommend that you can get one impression out of one magic mallow kit. If you would like to do a larger tile, such as a hand and a foot, then you can buy more than one kit and mix them together.
How can I shape my baby's hand or foot impression?
Easy! You can either shape your impression before you take your baby's hand or foot print by moulding it to a certain shape or you can simply roll it out flat and then after taking your baby's hand or foot print you can cut it to any shape you like using a sharp knife. You can then sand it to smooth the edges when dry.
What paint can I use to finish my baby's hand or foot imprint?
You can use any acrylic paint to paint your dry impression/imprint. You can choose a metallic acrylic paint which is the most popular but you can also paint your impressions in a baby pink or blue. But don't let us stop you if you want to choose more daring colours!
Can I write details on my finished baby impression?
You could use a permanent 'Write All' pen to write on your baby's name and details on the impression or if you are framing your impression in a box frame then you can perhaps write the details on the mount.
How can I frame/mount my baby's impression/imprint?
You can use any box frame if you wish to frame your baby's impression or you could frame it in a specially made desktop frame. Simply paint and finish your impression and allow to dry and then you can glue into your box frame. You can use a PVA glue to do this as when dry your baby's impression/imprint will be very light.
