I’m having a baby ;-)

Wow I am so excited but still in a little state of disbelief.  I have just had my 20 week scan and it is official there really is a baby in my tummy… unless the screen shows some sort of pre-recorded video repeat then I think it needs to sink in NOW!! I guess the fact my tummy is growing and I can sort of feel it moving should help. We have been keeping it very quiet up until now and have hardly told anyone outside our family, mainly because I didn’t want to jinx anything.  I have been very lucky with very little symptoms, so much so that I just forget until someone asks me how I am or stops me doing something. In fact I am thinking of making up some cravings just to get away with eating some weird and wonderful foods.

So In 20 weeks time I will have my own precious little baby, not just The Keepsake Co to look after. I have been broody for ages and my clock has definitely been ticking away ( I am 32) but it took a little while to get there. Working in the business I do, I have met some of the most beautiful babies over the past few years which has really added to the “ I want one” feeling.   I started to think I wouldn’t be able to have children which is why I think I am finding it hard to accept that this is actually happening and I am lucky enough to be having a baby of my own.  We found out yesterday that the chances are we are having a little baby boy – it is funny as both my nephew and niece were adamant I was having a boy. Molly because she thought it was easier to get boys as she had two brothers and there was only one of her and my little nephew Cameron just said he knew (he is 4!). I told the Sonographer this and she said she has never had a little one get it wrong in all the years she has been doing the job… spooky!!! Do they connect with the little baby’s spirit do you think?

I am going to be running my business throughout the pregnancy and am hoping it will all slot in to place together when the baby arrives. I know it is not going to be easy but I know I can do it… Some mums have said you get a secret energy force which gets your though.. so here is hoping!! My main thing though is to make sure the business runs smoothly everyday without needing me to work full time hours so I can still join in at play groups, signing workshops and more! I really want to make the most of this experience and the fact I have the flexibility of running my own business. I want The Keepsake Co to glow during this period too but I think having my own precious baby will only increase my creativity and desire to make the best business possible.

I haven’t planned anything, bought anything and more worryingly we cannot think of a boy’s name. We were fairly certain we were having a girl between me and my hubby so had a girl’s name picked out easily and my best friend had given me sackfulls of baby girls clothes.. but now I need to rethink. We just cannot think of a boy’s name which feels right to us both, the baby name books we have bought have some very bizarre options. Any ideas ? I really do need to start planning though as I had a dream before I was even pregnant that I had had a baby and ended up at the maternity ward with no car-seat to get the baby home so we had to walk and carry the baby home – can you imagine!! I live 50 minutes drive from the hospital by the way!!

My next project is to work on creating some lasting keepsakes from my beautiful first scan and second scan photos so keep your eyes peeled! How have you preserved yours?
